A modular design is planned to reduce on-site construction by allowing interconnecting. Quicker assembly in the field is key to Venture Global LNG's projected cost reductions.

Kiewit will design, engineer, construct, commission, test, and guarantee Venture Global LNG’s Cameron Parish, Louisiana, facility. Completion is expected in 2022.

The 10-mtpa Calcasieu Pass facility will employ a comprehensive process solution from GE Oil & Gas LLC, part of Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), that utilizes mid-scale, modular, factory-fabricated liquefaction trains as well as a 5×2 711-MW combined cycle gas turbine to support the trains’ electric-drive system.

Construction of the facility will start by early 2019 following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals, including the final order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which is currently scheduled to be issued no later than 22 January.

The Calcasieu Pass project has signed binding 20-year offtake agreements with Shell, BP, Edison S.p.A., Galp, Repsol, and PGNiG. Venture Global LNG is also developing the 20-mtpa Plaquemines LNG export facility in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, which has executed its first binding 20-year offtake agreement with PGNiG. Final investment decisions on both Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG projects are expected to be made in 2019.
