JIP33 Phase 3 Unveils Two Power System Specifications

The AC and DC uninterruptible power system specs were prepared with the support of the World Economic Forum. Phase 3 of the program aims to develop 40 new specifications.

Uninterruptible power systems

The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) Joint Industry Program (JIP33) published its 12th and 13th Phase 3 specifications for uninterruptible power systems (UPS).

The specifications were prepared under JIP33 Standardization of Equipment Specifications for Procurement with the support from the World Economic Forum (WEF) and were developed in consultation with a broad user and supplier base to gain benefits from standardization and achieve project and schedule cost reductions.

S-701 AC UPS defines a minimum common set of requirements for the procurement of AC in accordance with IEC 62040-3, Edition 2.0, 2011, Uninterruptible power systems (UPS)—Part 3: Method of specifying the performance and test requirements for application in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

S-702 DC UPS defines a minimum common set of requirements for the procurement of DC uninterruptible power systems (UPS) in accordance with IEC 62040-5-3, Uninterruptible power systems (UPS)—Part 5-3: DC output UPS—Performance and test requirements, Edition 1.0, 2016-10 for application in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

Initiated in 2016, JIP33 has published 15 specifications to date which are being adopted and implemented by the operators on major projects. Phase 3 was launched January 2019 with 12 companies participating to develop over 40 new specifications.
