If you enjoy reading our publication and would like to try your hand at writing original content, apply to become a member of The Way Ahead (TWA) Editorial Committee. The articles you read on this website are written by TWA editors or sourced by them from industry experts around the globe.

About: As a magazine by and for young professionals in the upstream oil and gas industry, TWA began publication in 2005. In 2016, it evolved from a print magazine published three times a year to an online resource for students and young professionals. As part of this evolution, content from prior issues are made available on the website and new content is posted weekly. TWA articles cover technical topics, oil and gas business, and career development. 

Volunteer Expectations. Volunteers are asked to commit to the team for a minimum of  1 year (preferably 3 years), comply with production deadlines, and be open to brainstorming, writing, sourcing articles from authors, and editing others' written work. Team members can expect this experience to improve their leadership, time management, and communication skills.

Requirements. Potential team members must be 

  • younger than 36 years of age
  • a paid SPE professional member 
  • proficient in the English language
  • have good writing skills
