Leadership in the Digital Age

Leadership is always important in any strategic program. In this recorded interview, Michelle Pflueger talks about her experience as the general manager of digital innovation and acceleration with Chevron.

Leadership is always important in any strategic program, but is the leadership challenge in a digital world any different than it is for safety or operational excellence programs? In this recorded interview, Michelle Pflueger talks about her experience as the general manager of digital innovation and acceleration with Chevron.

This interview was conducted by Jim Crompton from the Colorado School of Mines in October 2019. Since then, Pflueger has become Chevron’s lead for its project management office for functional transformation.

In the interview, Pflueger talks about adjusting the culture of an organization to allow the company to take full advantage of technological innovations. Corporate culture, she says, “really is the biggest hurdle.”

“I think it’s always going to be a team sport,” Pflueger said. “Anybody who thinks that they can jump into a digital transformation and do it by themselves probably doesn’t see the full vision.”
