The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said that it has found a new gas field in Fars province in southern Iran that is estimated to hold 19 Tcf, of which 13 Tcf is recoverable.

NIOC discovered the field, called Eram, after years of “serious” exploration, the company said 14 October. The field stretches some 50 km with an average width of 5 km. It is 200 km south of Shiraz, 60 km north of Assaluyeh, and 25 km east of Khonj County.

Experimental results show that the field should contain quality gas, NIOC said.
