Development of the Tolmount East discovery will be fast-tracked, the operator said.

Premier Oil’s operated Tolmount East well in the UK Southern Gas Basin encountered 241 ft of gas-bearing high-quality Leman sands with a net-to-gross ratio of 71%, porosity of 16%, and gas saturation of 82%, the company reported 17 October.

Well 42/28d-14, drilled on Block 42/28d in the UK North Sea, targeted 220 Bcf of P50 gross resource in an undrilled area 4 km east of the 500-Bcf Tolmount gas field.

Premier said the quality and thickness of the reservoir sands are at the upper end of its expectations and no gas-water contact was penetrated. A full logging-while-drilling and wireline acquisition program was undertaken, including extensive pressure data and fluid sampling. The reservoir section was cored with 216 ft recovered.

Well data will be integrated with a new 3D seismic dataset as part of fast-track development planning for Tolmount East.

The well result also has positive implications for other targets in the Greater Tolmount area, including Tolmount Far East and the Mongour discovery, the company said.

Premier’s sanctioned Tolmount development in the area remains on track for startup by the end of 2020. It’s expected to flow 20,000–25,000 BOE/D net to the company.
