BP and Oman Oil Company have made the final investment decision (FID) to proceed with the Ghazeer project, which is the Phase 2 development of Oman’s giant Khazzan natural gas field. The FID follows the startup of Khazzan Phase 1, which went on stream ahead of schedule last September. The Phase 1 project is producing at a design capacity of approximately 1 Bcf/D of gas and 35,000 B/D of condensate, BP said. Ghazeer is expected to start up in 2021 and produce 500 MMcf/D of gas and more than 15,000 B/D of condensate. BP is the operator at Khazzan with a 60% interest. Oman Oil Company holds the remaining interest.
