Vår Energi encountered two levels of hydrocarbon-bearing sandstones in its latest exploration well in the Barents Sea Goliat field. The well was drilled to investigate an untested fault compartment extending west from the field, targeting the Lower Jurassic and Upper Triassic reservoir sandstones of the Tubåen and Fruholmen formation. The Tubåen reservoir, which is roughly 10 m (33 ft), contains gas and oil with good-quality reservoir properties, with a likely total hydrocarbon column in the range of 18–60 m (59–197 ft).
