Murphy Oil discovered hydrocarbons with its first exploration test on Block 5 in the Salinas Basin offshore Mexico. The Cholula-1EXP exploration well reached TD of more than 8,800 ft in approximately 2,300 ft of water. The well encountered approximately 185 ft of net pay in the upper Miocene target objectives. Murphy subsidiary Murphy Sur, S. de R.L. de C.V. operates Block 5 with 30% working interest. Partners are wholly owned subsidiaries of Petronas (23.34%), Ophir Energy (23.33%), and Sierra Oil and Gas (23.33%).
