OTC Brasil Names Distinguished Achievement Award Winners

OTC Brasil has named its 2019 Distinguished Achievement Award recipients. Carlos Tadeu Fraga will be honored for individual achievement and Petrobras’ EWT Libra Project will be recognized for corporate achievement.

The recipients will be feted at an awards luncheon on 30 October at the SulAmérica Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro during the OTC Brasil conference, which takes place from 29–31 October.

Fraga will be honored for his outstanding leadership and key roles in the advancement of deepwater oil and gas production projects in well construction, subsea, and topsides. As Petrobras’ executive manager, he led the R&D team involved in the development of several technologies applied on pre-salt fields, and played a vital role in the implementation of pre-salt developments, from conceptual design to first oil. He has more than 38 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, and has served as a board member of several technology institutions in Brazil, where he made key contributions to universities and research institutes.

Fraga is currently chief executive officer of Prumo Logistica and is a board member of the Brazilian Institute for Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (IBP).

Petrobras will be presented a distinguished achievement award in recognition of its groundbreaking extended well test (EWT) Libra Project. The design of the EWT was planned to maximize the interference information from the observer wells equipped with remote-pressure sensors. The FPSO Pioneiro de Libra was built for simultaneous oil production and gas injection while measuring the pressure disturbance in different parts of the field using remote pressure-monitoring devices. The EWT project helps derisk a sequence of multibillion-dollar fast-track developments as dynamic information from the reservoir is fed into the project design.
