Global E&C To Consolidate Business Units
Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor Global E&C is consolidating its business units and moving to a new headquarters facility in Aberdeen as part of its restructuring plan to stabilize the company following the global pandemic and economic downturn.
Last year, Global Energy Group, the parent company of Global E&C, acquired Aiken Group, a provider of multidisciplinary engineering and project management services, specializing in modules, accommodation, and refrigeration. It also acquired Apollo Offshore Engineering in 2019 to strengthen its capabilities in brownfield modifications. Earlier this year the firm acquired Magma Products Ltd., a commissioning and startup company.
Its headquarters will include the projects and engineering teams and technology hub. The company’s fabrication facilities will be co-located with the Aiken business.
The company said the move improves its fabrication and modular build services, offering direct access to the Aberdeen harbor for loadout of larger scopes.
Global E&G Executive Director Terry Allan said, “The context in which we operate is moving faster than any of us have ever experienced. As a business we need to adapt to market changes in order to remain relevant and maintain our progressive market position in the EPC space. There remains a lot of uncertainty in the oil and gas industry which now needs to reinvent itself in many respects in order to extend the life of fields in the UKCS.
“We feel that we are positioned very well to support the UK energy market as it transitions over the coming years where we must strike the balance between driving down cost for existing offshore assets, accelerating our energy transition objectives and utilizing value-added technologies across all areas.
