Equinor Awards Wood $75-Million Contract To Support Mariner Field Development

Equinor awarded engineering group Wood a $75-million 3-year contract to deliver operations, maintenance, modifications, and offshore services in the Mariner field in the UK Continental Shelf on the Mariner A platform and Mariner B floating storage unit. The agreement will begin January 2021 through to Q4 2023, with options to extend.

Wood’s work will be delivered by its Aberdeen-based onshore and offshore teams, with support from its global engineering community.

The Mariner field is Equinor’s first operated development in the UK North Sea supported by digital solutions and technologies including automated drilling and digital twin solutions. Production at Mariner began in August 2019, and holds an estimated 3 billion bbl of oil in place and is expected to produce annual average plateau rates of approximately 55,000 B/D and up to 70,000 B/D at peak production.

The 3-year service contract follows recent agreements in September between the two for the Kollsnes gas processing facility and Breidablikk tieback development in Norway.

In September, Wood was also awarded an $84-million (EPCI) contract for the Breidablikk development following successful delivery of the front-end engineering design (FEED) study, which was awarded with the EPCI scope option in 2019.

Wood also secured a $42-million contract in September from Equinor, on behalf of operator Gassco, to provide engineering, procurement, construction, and installation services at the Kollsnes gas processing plant in Øygarden, Norway. The company was previously contracted in June 2019 to perform the front-end engineering design for modifications to the plant.
