Eni’s development plan for Indonesia’s offshore Merakes field has received approval from the country’s minister of energy and mineral resources. Under the plan, six subsea wells will be drilled and completed, with subsea systems and pipelines to be installed and connected to the Jangkrik floating production facility. The field is estimated to hold approximately 2 Tcf of lean natural gas in place, the company said. Eni is the operator of the East Sepinggan production-sharing contract (PSC), which contains the field, and has an 85% interest in the PSC. Pertamina holds the remaining interest.
