Companies, Individuals Take Honors at OTC Asia

The third edition of the OTC Asia conference recognized several companies and individuals for technological achievements.

Several companies and individuals received honors at the recent Offshore Technology Conference Asia in Kuala Lumpur.

The OTC Asia Spotlight on New Technology Awards recognized and showcased the latest and most advanced hardware and software technologies that are propelling the industry into the future. The 2018 winning technologies were developed by ConocoPhillips, Halliburton, NGL Tech, Schlumberger, TechnipFMC, and Weatherford.

The inaugural Distinguished Achievements Awards recognized major technological, humanitarian, environmental, and leadership contributions to the industry in the region. Simon Ong was honored with the Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals for his contributions to the offshore sector; Petronas was presented the OTC Asia Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of its ground-breaking floating LNG Satu project; and Special Citations were presented to Datuk Abdullah Karim for outstanding leadership and key role in delivering the Satu project, and to Michael Utsler, who was recognized for achievements as a technical pioneer, inspiring leader, and dedicated mentor.

The conference drew more than 19,000 attendees from 71 countries. Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Minister in the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department, officiated the event.

Speaking at the conference closing ceremony, Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib, executive vice president and chief executive officer, upstream for Petronas, extended his appreciation to all the committee members, speakers, delegates, exhibitors, students and volunteers, as well as sponsors and supporters, for making the third edition of OTC Asia a success.

The next edition of OTC Asia will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 24-27 March 2020.
