McDermott Nets EPCI Contract from Saudi Aramco

McDermott International announced a “large” contract award from Saudi Aramco for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) services in the Marjan field offshore Saudi Arabia. The contract calls for the upgrade of two existing platforms related to the installation of associated equipment for electrical submersible pumps, as well as space for a future high-integrity pressure protection system, subsea composite cable lay, and topside cable tie-ins.

McDermott said in a statement that work on the project would begin immediately. The project is scheduled to be fully executed from the company’s office in Al Khobar and from the Dammam fabrication facility.

Marjan is a large field that straddles the offshore median line between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The majority of its oil reserves lie within the Saudi Arabian part of the field, but the Iranian portion (known as Foroozan) also contains significant volumes. The field is believed to have a production capacity of 500,000 B/D of crude oil. In 2017, Saudi Aramco announced an expansion of the field to increase its capacity by 300,000 B/D over the next 6 years.
