SPE is governed by a 27-member Board of Directors composed of member representatives from around the world. Officers and Directors are elected to a 3-year term, with approximately one-third of the Board rolling off each year.
The 2018 nomination cycle is now open. Positions open to nomination are:
- 2020 President
- Regional Director, Africa
- Regional Director, North America
- Regional Director, Middle East
- Regional Director, Asia Pacific
- Technical Director, Completions
- Technical Director, Reservoir
Nominations for 2020 President are open through 1 December 2017, and for Regional Directors and Technical Directors through 15 December 2017.
The 2018 nomination and election cycle marks the start of a 3-year process to transition to a 19-member Board. As part of this transition, the Board has established 7 large regions: Africa, Asia and Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East, North America, and Russia and Caspian. Some regions will have more than one representative on the Board. For this year’s nomination process, the North America Regional Director position open to nomination will be a consolidation of three positions with expiring terms (Western North America, Rocky Mountain North America, and Gulf Coast North America) and nominations for the position can come from any part of North America, not just those three areas.
