The SPE Delta Section and its young professionals group have rebounded since the hurricane storm season in 2005 disrupted activities. The Young Professionals Committee meets monthly to conduct planning and coordination of activities for young professionals. These activities have included guest speakers who have discussed both technical and nontechnical issues, including managing a financial portfolio, continuing education, and hurricane-recovery efforts.
Section board members include Jason Moehlman (programs), Aurelien Guichard (social), Helen Lee (social), Bola Agunloye (secretary), Jeremy Griggs (at-large member), Marteen Poort (treasurer), Brad Davis (webmaster), Josh Etkind (section liaison), and Bevan Stansbury (chairperson).
Member Accomplishments: Etkind is cofounder of the Young Professionals Coordinating Committee (YPCC), served as Student Link editor for The Way Ahead, and in 2004 was awarded the SPE Delta Section Outstanding Achievement and Service to Section Award and the SPE International Young Member Outstanding Services Award.
For 2008, the group has planned a lunch guest speaker and/or networking social on the third Thursday of each month. The section’s website is www.spe-delta.org.
