On Friday, 31 March, a plane crashed close to Rio de Janeiro. Among those aboard was Márcio Pereira, 27, a petroleum engineer with Petrobras. He was known among his colleagues as a dedicated and hard-working professional. He was a member of the SPE Young Professionals Coordinating Committee and Director of SPE Brazil Young Professionals. He had a passion to get young petroleum professionals involved in the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
