The Young Exploration and Production Professionals’ Lunch and Learn sessions in Stavanger are now being established as monthly events. The program kicked off with well-attended events in late 2004.  Sessions in 2004 and 2005 varied from visits to high-tech, remote-control drilling operation centers to technical presentations from oil companies and oil service companies. There also has been an increase in general company presentations given by some of the oil companies newly established on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Young professionals attending the sessions have built new technical knowledge and developed their professional and social networks. At the various lunches, excellent discussions followed the expert presentations. The sessions have been attended by YEPPs representing a wide variety of technical disciplines. These meetings are open to all young professionals in the oil and gas industry and have especially attracted young employees with a more commercial background.

The sessions last year were conducted during normal working hours, giving them a technical and professional, rather than a social, image. This year, those sessions will continue, but there also will be a focus on activities outside normal working hours and in other interest areas.
