Young engineers and professionals from the Saudi Aramco E&P business line organized a visit in May for undergraduate students from King Fahd U. of Petroleum and Minerals to Saudi Aramco’s Visualization Center. The students were first introduced to the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (Expec) and its functions. The introduction was followed by a short video titled “Expec, Center of Innovation.” The students were then guided to the Visualization Center, where engineers Khalid Zamil, Mubarak Dossary, and Bader Harbi welcomed the visitors and illustrated to them how visualization applications are developed and used in Saudi Aramco. The objective of the visit was to expose the students to advanced technologies used in the E&P business and motivate them to consider joining E&P businesses after graduation.

On a different note, several engineers in Saudi Aramco are looking into initiating a Young Exploration and Production Professional (YEPP) group to further enrich the experiences of YEPPs. Learning about the activities of other YEPP groups around the world, such as the YEPP groups in The Netherlands and Aberdeen, and the benefits the professionals are getting from such activities, is the driving force behind this initiative. Engineers from different engineering disciplines in Saudi Aramco have met several times to discuss the implementation of this initiative. They will be discussing this initiative with the local Saudi SPE section and the other active YEPP groups worldwide. Currently, the YEPPs in the company are staying in touch by publishing a quarterly newsletter to share their experiences, achievements, and management perspectives, and by holding monthly and quarterly meetings.
