After much dedicated effort, a Young Professionals Committee has been formally established, with chairperson and officers announced on 24 May. This milestone was the culmination of months of work, starting with meetings that began in September 2006 involving a few young members from Cairn, Geopetro, and other companies. Busy schedules created a challenge. Regular emails facilitated planning and the exchange of ideas, as well as helping to build enthusiasm and momentum. A further major motivating factor was the participation of a number of older oil-industry professionals in these meetings. Thanks go to the SPE New Delhi Section for its invaluable support of the committee throughout the formation process.
