This year the Italian section is focused on new initiatives to boost YP involvement and professional development. Activities include the organization of lectures with topics chosen in accordance with a survey conducted among local YPs, senior professionals, and academia. The Section launched the Best Paper Award, which is open to any student or YP who has worked on subjects relating to the Italian oil and gas industry. Papers will be evaluated by a committee, which initially announced three finalists. The award ceremony will take place in December 2007.
A new initiative this year is the World & Young Program (W&Y). This activity aims at gathering different experiences of young colleagues in the E&P industry outside of Italy. YPs working abroad are experiencing different and fascinating lives. The goal of this program is to involve them by sharing their experiences and to give more international flavor to our activities.
