Since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf of Mexico in 2005, the SPE Delta Section YP Program has focused on rebuilding our network and educating members on the lasting effects that these storms will have on our industry and our homes. Such events have included “Repair and Completion of Hurricane Protection Projects,” in which we met with representatives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to discuss ongoing hurricane protection work in Louisiana. SPE Delta Section YP members also visited a local charity, the Bethlehem Children’s Residential Treatment Center, and hosted a pizza party for the children and counselors of the center, and also assessed future community service opportunities.
