The Northern Emirates Young Professionals (YPs) program was formed in early 2006, thanks to the initiative of several young SPE members and strong support from SPE Northern Emirates Section Chairperson Razik Shaikh. This YP section has approximately 50 members from many disciplines across the petroleum industry and of many nationalities.  Our challenge will be to plan technical and social events relevant to all members.

Our first event was a Coffee Night social held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dubai. The purpose of the event was to give YP members a chance to get to know each other and to give the YP section committee feedback about planned events. The social event was well attended, and members expressed an interest in hosting events for the wider SPE membership in addition to events specific to YPs. The Northern Emirates YP Section will be hosting a number of social events in the near future, and our technical program will begin in September 2006.
